The Scout's name, appearance and function is loosely based on the Tower Battles version of the same name. The DJ Booth can increase the Scout's somewhat short range. 
For example, it will cost $1,800 to upgrade a Golden Scout to Level 4 with a 20% discount buff instead of the expected $1,600.
The DJ Booth can reduce the Golden Scout's increased upgrade costs, however the discount buff will be half as effective. For Normal and Molten modes, this can also be a very cheap and viable end-game tower. The Golden Scout is a very strong tower early on, and has multiple uses midway through the game. The Farm is a better alternative as it also gains you cash after each wave passes. You can use the Scout to deal with the early waves to give it some use other than distracting bosses' abilities. This could be risky however, as due to the tower slot limit of 5, you may not be able to choose better towers. The Scout can be used as a cheap way to distract enemies like the Molten Boss from using their abilities on more useful towers, like the Accelerator. However, its minimal DPS makes it unreliable for Hiddens and Shadows, unless multiple Level 4 Scouts are placed. This means that the Scout can be used to defend against weaker hidden enemies, like the Hidden and Shadow, while you can work in getting more expensive towers and upgrades. While it may not be as good as the aforementioned towers, it can be a good upgrade for the Scout later on during a game. Additionally, the Sniper can be unlocked immediately when you first play the game. The Soldier and Demoman (towers that are extremely cheap to unlock) are far better later on during the game compared to the Scout. Past the Slow Boss in Normal and Molten modes, and past the Dark Necromancer in Fallen mode, the Scout becomes excessively weak against the enemies that spawn, mainly due to its minimal DPS. The Scout is mainly used as an early-game tower and does not perform well in other conditions.
